We are London's independent promoter of resource efficiency. We are passionate about finding more ways in which London uses fewer resources, uses them most frugally, re-uses and recycles them.
London Remade was formed in 2001 by London‘s businesses and Boroughs with Government support to raise the profile of the need to reduce the capital’s waste of resources. Our focus has been on increasing the amounts collected for recycling, ensuring the materials are recycled into new products and stimulating sales of products using fewer virgin resources.
Our achievements since 2001 include
- 1.23 million tonnes of waste diverted from landfill
- £580 million spent by consumers on recycled products
- 400 businesses advised and supported
- 320 people trained
- 916 jobs created or retained
- 56,220 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided in 2009
For over a decade we have led debate and been associated with over £100m investment in new recycling businesses in London. You can read our reports here.
